"ENCOUNTERING" THE TRUTHS....

(For last few days, I was away from the virtual world of facebook and blogs..enjoying freedom of loosing attachements....as a small, silent death....
But,...today,on seeing this news report on 'THE HINDU', I found no longer able to keep silent.......)

Yesterday most of the national dailies were happily flashing news about killing of 20 Maoists by heroic CRPF commandos....and reading through them , most of the middle class Indians must have also become happy.

Today, the aftermath of the shooting was reported by HINDU with glimpses of mourning people comprises of the deprived, underprivileged class of DALIT 'tribals'...who are still untouchable to the civic society most of us belong to....
Villagers carrying a dead body
The report states how a peaceful gathering of villagers were crushed by the CRPF jawans.... shooting at unarmed villagers....raping young children....
Relatives mourning around a corpse

Needless to say, our CRPF heroes can very well judge insurgency even in a 12 yr old girl and in no time successful in wiping off life from her body with a single bullet.............Or even sometimes they even resort to raping the children for draining the Maoism from their minds.....

Pity...Its a real pity that I belong to this nation having history of peaceful tolerance, gone into the hands of machine gun maniacs , and killing its own citizens....

How can these kind of acts can be differentiated by that done by the religious fanatics in our neighbourhoods ...???...No ...Both are same...and both places the innocents are killed and tortured for no fault of theirs...

May be time had come up for those who rule to look for a political, economical and social solution to the problem of Maoism...It is blinding oneself to believe that Maoism can be tackled by a military solution...

What needed now is :-

  1. the constitutional upholding of tribal rights of those places where these unfortunate sons & daughters  of nature belongs
  2. stopping the corporate plunder of nature and its resources, which were saved for us by the forefathers of these same tribals.
  3. Renunciation of military action and resort to nonviolent means of change through education and through the Maoists can be brought to the main stream and not their guns...
  4. Those forests, which our developmental extremists want to plunder are there for thousands and thousands of years, hosting the greens required for our own existence...let them remain for the future Indians also...let the indices of GDP not dictate our humanity
I sincerely hope as like you that may be in the near future my India will be a secular, socialist and democratic country which treats everyone equal without prejudices of caste, creed and colour.....

Break Those Walls...!!!!!!!!

Now...
Time has come..
There...
They stood up for the first time...
They shouted for the first time...
They walked together for the first time...
Then...
Those Walls started shaking....

The Walls...
Which protected the torturers from the tortured...!!
Which protected the exploiters from the exploited...!!!!
Which protected the few from the mass...!!!!
Which protected the might from the right...!!!!

Let them BREAK....!!!!
Let them FALL..!!!!....

There..
Inside these walls..
Lies the treasures....
Let them go to those tortured..!!!
Let them go to those exploited..!!!!
Let them go to those who are right..!!!!
Let them go to the mass..!!!

For you Niyamgiri, I am happy....

I am writing this as a happy reaction to the National Environment Appellate Authority's decision to revoke the clearance given to Vedanta for Bauxite Mining at Niyamgiri hills...The story of tribals in the Niyamgiri hills are projected by the humanist organizations over the world as a real life screen play of the James Cameroon's Oscar WInner "AVATAR"..The only difference in plot here is that the affected people are human itself..the Dongra Kondh tribe who for centuries are inhabiting in holy lap of Niyamgiri....And upon them the eagle eyes of Vedanta found bauxite deposits.. Rest is history...

NEAA verdict states that the clearance was granted on the basis of an environment impact assessment (EIA) report of Vimta Labs, which was never placed before the Dongria Kondh tribal community for consideration....

My concern is here...There are a lot of Niyamgiris still in India , who are going to ripped off their greenery...who are going to be made naked so that the profit thirstness of Anil Agarwals can keep the Indian growth story ahead....

Going back a little into the Environment Impact Assessment Notification , 2006 by MoEF, Public consultation is made mandatory for every projects ..be it mining, nuclear, wind power..any thing... But companies are getting clearances through the implemenation loopholes of the bureaucracy without proper public scrutiny as envisaged... The act says the EIA report shall be placed in public scrutiny for 30 days and the authorities shall widely circulate the conduction of public consultation .

The wider circulation of the EIA study reports are seldom being done by the state authorities or the pollution control watchdogs. This may be due to the lack of empathy of District Administration OR Pollution Control Authorities towards the cause of the people who are going to be affected due to project implementation. And as a result the project proponents manage the public hearing smoothly ride through the surface with the silent and active nods of the authorities in charge. Hence it wont need an Einstein's grey cells to deduct how these projects succeed in bagging the clearances from MoEF well in time.

As the beaurocracy lacks the empathy , the need is prevalent for a better EIA Act which shall enact provisions so that the authorities will compulsorily educate the Project Affected mass regarding the whole details of the project . This enables them to participate in the public consultation and raise their livelihood concerns in the event of the proposed project activities, what ever it may be....

And thereby we may can prevent the real life portrayals of "AVATAR" occurring again and again in this great democracy.....

So for you Niyamgiri, I am happy....I am happy very much...

VEDANTA OF "AVATAR".........

Last week I saw the visual extravaganza “AVATAR...”

The story line was about infiltration of a technologically advanced human race into a Planet called “Pandora”. The Pandora is originally inhabited with human like living beings…The purpose of the infiltration was to mine a precious chemical called “unobtanium” which were deposited under the habitat of indigenous people. For this, the aboriginals have to be forcefully evacuated from their land, to which they owe their thousands of years of existence……

In the end, there comes an “AVATAR” along with natural forces fights back against the humans and reclaims the land…..

On the very same day, I have seen news printed in Economic Times printed on the front page itself. It’s about a mining MNC, Vedanta Resources which was successful in wooing Orissa government (or political babus….) and obtained license for mining in an area where a primitive tribal community is being inhabited for thousands of years. Economic times reflected the worries of the potential investor and the promoter of the company who was a business tycoon, Anil Agarwal as the margins may get affected if they can’t source mine from Orissa…

But my worries were different…I don’t remember the name of the tribe…neither I have seen them…..But I know it for sure ….

….that they are hungry….

….that they are helpless…..

….that they may not have enough to wear…..

…..and that their existence is in stake…………….!!!!!

Because these helpless people depends on the environment for their survival...Be it the trees, from which they can pluck fruits…Or be it the animals, which they can hunt...Or be it the land, where they cultivate….

…And More than that, how can they digest the emotional trauma on being kicked out of the very land they were inhabiting for centuries….the very land where their Gods blessed them…the very land where their dark devils bestowed curses on them…HOW CAN THEY…………………??????

I know……One day the last one of them will also die in far way land, where they will be “Rehabilitated” by the authorities...……

May be sometimes, we should remember that we are not here for ever…

…Vedanta will not be here forever…

….Neither neither our prestigious democratic nation nor the politicians in it…

….Time will change everything…….

.On the endless pursuit towards strengthening financial profit bottom lines, we are forgetting bottom lines of nature….

James Cameroon’s AVATAR is happening in front of us every time…

..Not in 2D or 3D…..but in real dimension itself….

…Every time helpless souls are being kicked out from their homes in name of development…

….And they are being killed if they open their mouth……

….And they are being called “terrorist”, if they resist………………..

Only difference is that there won’t be any “AVATAR” to save them…A perfect anti climax…………..

If I were a theist….

If I were not of the belief that “MAN CREATED GOD ONLY AFTER HE FOUND DESIRES AND FEARS ….”

I should have prayed…..to “GOD” :-

“MAY AN AVATAR COME …. LIGHT US IN THE TIME TO COME….”

Revolution...Naxalism..Freedom...Independence

For me it was all about a revolution and irony is that , I read about it in the most unlikely place...in Forbes India Oct-9,09 issue....the story of peace keeper, Gulshan Bamra.

Gulshan Bamra, an IAS Officer who was the district collector of Balghat (Naxalite Red Zone)..a place which was synonymous for underdeveopment...poverty..caste and what not... all powerful forms of breeding grounds for a revolution for the Maoists....

Naxalites may not be a market force who looks towards the oppurtunity to exploit the backwardness..Rather I feel they are born out of the negligence of state and its administration towards improvement in the basic amenities of human population for whom "INDIA" is a foreign state , from which they have to claim independence and dignity...

But..Gulshan Bamra showed the state the necessity of tackling root cause of the problem rather than going for a fruit cause analysis ( where u attack the symptom and not the problem...) of branding Naxalites as terrorists..and starting military operations against them..

Pls dont misunderstand...i am not advocating for a violent class struggle to which the Maoists are into..they should be refrained from enacting that..

I would like to look the problem as a child psychologist...Children needs attention...When they are not getting it through one way..they will try another...Look at Non-violent Narmada Bachao Aandolan (NBA)..Nobody thinks that the struggle got the attention it should have got..Because after GANDHI, non-violence is only a luxury terminology for us who likes to dispose it inside the glass windows any GANDHI Museum...

When voices are not heard non-violently,they will be left with little options but to raise red flags and KALASHNIKOVs' along with it....
Coming Back to Gulshan, he did what is needed.. under NREGA he developed rural infrastructure ..gave Balghatians jobs...theryby helped them to recalim their lives

In the end,i feel Gulshan Bamra had shown India the way..The way its state administrators has to follow to make the underprevilaged Indian foreigners claim independence over poverty..caste..etc..etc and make them "INDIANS..."

Or otherwise you and me will be seeing Red patches in then Greenly forests in exlusives of News channels.....

Indian Developmental Paradox

Frnd, my India is growing..Crossing all horizons...

Growing Deaths by poverty...(all over India)

Growing Farmer Suicides..(Vidarbha)

Growing Farm land acqisitions...(Singur)

Growing queue of helpless land oustees.. (Narmada)
(Some are given deserts where they cant feed themselves or their cattle...for
the proclaimed development..!!!!!
Many are not given that deserts too...!!)

Growing demolishion of slums of the unfortunate Indians..(New Delhi)
(Poor are not even allowed to beg..!!!!!)

Growing intolerances in name of GOD.. (Gujarat)
(They are trying to save their own gods..rather than gods saving them..)

Growing number of caste atrocities..(Khairlanji massacre)
(Some hindus are even not allowed to enter temples even now...!!
Socialistic face of GOD...???)

Growing percentage of millions below poverty line..
(Fastest growth in India..!)

Whom I shld thank for this growth.?

The sweating Richshaw puller near New Delhi Railway Station arguing with a business
tycoon for one rupee..
Or the farmer who decided to suicide...

Or the mine worker suffocated inside coal mine...
Or the black dalit who was not allowed to enter temple..

Or the slumdeller beaten by the guardians of law for begging for his stomach…..
Or the lean mother who sold herself for feeding bread to her child…

Or the thirsty beings longing for water near Coca-Cola factories….
Or…
I know my list is incomplete...
It is for u to fill or delete it....

NB : A gun at this moment in my hand..would have made me to suicide myself…
Becasuse I am highly worthless…my hands are incapable to resist this growth…
